TONIGHT: Super 'Sugar Shack Monday' with Damon Fowler Group performing and Jose's Real Cuban Food on Food Network viewing party

This week's edition of Damon Fowler's Sugar Shack Mondays at Aces Live in Bradenton features a full evening of Blind Pig recording artist the Damon Fowler Group plus a special viewing party for one of our favorite restaurants:

Jose Baserva's Jose’s Real Cuban Food will appear on the popular road show “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19 on Food Network.

A nationwide audience will be able to see crazy-haired host Guy Fieri dine on Baserva’s picadillo, paella and boliche.

To accommodate the larger crowd, Baserva and his awesome food will be moving across the street to Aces Live.

The Damon Fowler Group will perform original blues and Americana music and perhaps a few choice covers from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. and then start a second set after the show airs.

I'll be interviewing Baserva and Fowler around 7:45 p.m. and then again after the show airs.

This week's edition of Damon Fowler's Sugar Shack Mondays features special guest the Sean Chambers Band, another Florida act with national recognition.


From Chambers' website:

Sean toured with the legendary Hubert Sumlin (Howlin' Wolf's guitarist) as his guitarist and band leader from 1998-2003. Performing extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe together, Chambers recalls this time as being his "College Education" in music. "My band would usually open the show, then take a short break and bring out Hubert for his set. I learned so much during my time playing with Hubert, I consider it my college education." Sean not only learned at Hubert's feet, but his own style of the blues began to get noticed by fans and critics as well. During a tour throughout England in 2001 Britain's own "Guitarist" magazine named Chambers as one of the top 50 blues guitarists of the last century! After his tenure with Mr.Sumlin he later performed 3 more tours throughout England on his own, and in 2003 was asked to headline the Maryport Blues Festival there.

This week's edition of Damon Fowler's Sugar Shack Mondays features Fowler's talented close friend Eddie Wright.

A singer, guitarist and harmonica player, Wright has been fronting his own bands for decades. But he has also collaborated for years with Fowler. The two used to perform as a duo and Wright co-wrote most of the song's on Fowler's latest Blind Pig Records release "The Devil Got His Way" as well as a few on Fowler's 2009 Blind Pig debut "Sugar Shack."

It's always good times when the Damon Fowler Group brings unofficial band-mate Wright on stage.

This week's edition of Damon Fowler's Sugar Shack Mondays features harmonics ace Rockin' Jake (pictured) and his band.

Based out of New Orleans since 1990, Rockin' Jake relocated briefly to Ft. Worth, Tex. since being flooded out by Hurricane Katrina, then settled in St. Louis where he now makes his home.

Rockin' Jake has been hailed by many as one of the premier harmonica players in the country. His original sound is a hybrid of second line, swamp funk, blues and zydeco with influences from Paul Butterfield, Big Walter Horton, James Cotton, The Meters,WAR, J. Geils Band, Clifton Chenier, and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Jake has conjured up this formula that is blowing crowds away from coast to coast. Widely known as a touring juggernaut among his peers, his schedule of over 200 performances per year include clubs, concert venues, and festivals.
