UPDATED 6/6: $250K grant for Manatee Players new theater in Bradenton could be coming from tourist dollars

UPDATED 6/6: Manatee Players of Bradenton could receive $250K from Tourist Development

The Manatee Players might be taking another big step toward completing its new theater.

Manatee County commissioners are exploring giving a minimum of $250,000 from Tourist Development Council overage money as a matching grant toward the completion of the Manatee Performing Arts Center near Riverwalk in downtown Bradenton.

The Manatee Players recently raised $1.75 million toward the new, multi-use facility scheduled for completion next March. The $250,000 grant, when matched, would leave the community theater troupe within $600,000 of money needed to open the doors to its new home.

More information to follow.

The performing arts center is a big win for our area. The person who asked "Who cares" is showing ignorance and an attitude to boot!
