There's a block party this weekend in the Old Manatee district from 2-8 p.m. Sunday. The event? SOMA Bash - meaning "South of Manatee Avenue" Bash. The occasion? SOMA - the restaurant owned by chef Dave Shiplett - is celebrating its one-year anniversary.
The party, held in the parking lot of Central Cafe (between Manatee Avenue and Sixth Avenue West), will feature live music, food from local restaurants, art, a car show, a VIP lounge and plenty of activities for children.
Live music includes:
2-3 p.m. Pushing Broom
3-4 p.m. Rixon
4-5 p.m. Sheri and the Vision
5-6 p.m. Assuming Tomorrow
6-8 p.m. National Recording Artist Jimmy Reagan
Also: John Lawler in SoMa' s VIP chill lounge; Matt Brown in Manatee Central Banquet Hall; Kara Nally upstairs.
Admission is free. Proceeds collected from the bash will benefit Family Resources, Inc - a downtown Bradenton non-profit agency serving youth and families in Manatee County.
The event is rain or shine.
