Bradenton, Sarasota bands to play benefit show for singer’s mom at Hunsader‘s Rockin’ Ranch

Scott Murphy, lead singer of the local rock band Trigger Fish (pictured), has assembled popular Bradenton and Sarasota groups to play a benefit show for his cancer-battling mom.

The Susan Murphy Cancer Benefit Sunday ay Hunsader’s Rockin’ Ranch will feature performances by Cherry Bombs, Rye Road, Katalyst, Trigger Fish, Black Thorn Rose, Superbot, Whiskey Blind and Cross Fire.

“It has been unbelievable,” Murphy said of the outpouring of support for his mom. “Many of these people don’t even know her, just that she has cancer, and want to help.”

The benefit, from noon to 9 p.m., is designed for the entire family and will include a bounce house, water slides, volleyball, basketball, horse shoes and many animals for the children to pet.

A Budweiser truck will be present along with food vendors.

“Some think of melanoma cancer as skin cancer only but in this case has been found in Susan’s brain, lungs and leg,” Murphy recently wrote on Facebook. “Man, this isn’t easy to talk about being her son here on Face Book but (I) was told it’s a must by my closest friends!”

Details: 12 p.m. Jan. 13, Hunsader’s Rockin’ Ranch, 23810 53rd Ave. E., Myakka City. Admission: $10 suggested donation. Information: 941-730-8558 or www.hunsadersrockinranch.com.
